I’ve been reading a lot recently about other people who have to live with Osteogenesis Imperfecta. This is the condition that has not only left me fragile, but turned me Unbreakable.
I haven’t ever really interacted with anyone else with OI until the past few days. Unsurprisingly, I have found these people to be sweet, kind, positive, and intelligent.
I have also seen people that struggle with the condition a lot. People who have broken literally hundreds of bones. People permanently confined to wheelchairs. People unable to go days without a fracture.
They’re the strongest people I know. They are the people I look up to. They are what makes me realize how blessed I am to have as mild a case of OI that I do.
I like to try and set an example. A mark that nothing can or will stop me with OI. These wonderful people have set the same for me. I’m eternally thankful to have heard from a few, and elated to meet more.
Just because we fracture doesn’t mean we aren’t strong. Quite the opposite. People with OI are the strongest you will ever meet.
That’s a fact.
