Poking Holes

By: Connor Lenahan

The internet has gifted us with way, way too many ways to kill time. I spend a great deal of my time on my laptop. I’m actually paid to do so. Life is truly beautiful.

One of the most delightful rabbit holes I have ever found myself tumbling down is a YouTube channel named CinemaSins. They are masterful about taking movies both amazing and awful, more frequently the latter, and slicing them with the precision of a sushi chef. They poke enough holes in plots that The Hunger Games becomes a block of swiss cheese.

They do it all in hilarious fashion. While many of their observations about mistakes and plot holes are valid they will also goof around to make the videos an extremely fun watch. Because of this style and the ability to essentially watch an abridged version of the movie, CinemaSins has been one of my favorite websites to visit for hours on end. I cannot count the number of times I have been drawn into a marathon of videos only to emerge from my trance like state confused and disoriented. While this is slightly terrifying it is also entirely worth it.

The most appealing part about CinemaSins is the fact that it can take a machete to the body of a movie I adore, like Skyfall above, rip it to pieces, and still make me laugh. I’ll still love the movie all the same as well. It’s just pure, unadulterated entertainment. The kind of thing we need more of in life.

So check out CinemaSins if you like movies and have 6-12 hours to kill. You will most certainly enjoy yourself.
