A few months ago I wrote an article, “Slap Puck Dynasty,” talking about how our teams at Boston University were no messing around great. I proposed an idea in that same article that both teams could, in theory, make realistic plays for the national championships in early 2015.

Well, now things have become interesting. Save for an exhibition against the US World Junior Team for the men on Friday both teams are now in their holiday break until January. Here is where each team stands in the latest national rankings.

That’s right, Boston University is the only school in the country with both of their hockey teams in the top five. Further, the men’s team is yet again the best in the country. Thanks to huge seasons thus far from Jack Eichel and Danny O’ Regan, just to name two, the team is making national waves. Unsurprisingly, Coach Brian Durocher’s squad is again near the top of the list.

It is clear from these rankings that Boston University is by and large the best hockey school in the country. This is just the first step. Things only get more exciting from here. Get very, very excited as the real season – the NCAA tournaments – draws ever closer.
