Fenway Park and David Grohl
By: Connor Lenahan
Today was, as always, a successful Christmas Day with my family members both immediate and extended. Lots of laughs, lots of food, lots of gifts – frankly, it’s a dream day in every sense. One gift in particular happened to make me extremely excited as it gave me something to look forward to in the future. It also happens to be one of the most desired concerts on my musical bucket list.
Next July I will be sitting at Fenway Park to see the Foo Fighters live in concert. To say I am elated is an understatement. I have wanted to see them live for a long, long time. I never had the geographic ability to be able to pull it off previously. However, now that I live in a giant market for tours of this stature – the Foo’s are playing Fenway, not the TD Garden – I will be able to hang out with Dave Growl for a few hours and scream sing along to “Everlong.” Better yet, the album they are touring in support for, Sonic Highways, is actually pretty good. I’ve found myself liking it more and more as I continue to listen to it. Given that there are only eight songs on that album this means the hefty majority will be Foo Fighter classics. This means I will know just about every word to every song that show – something I haven’t been able to do since OutKast this past June and Kanye West in November 2014.
The countdown is on now. Seven months to go until this show pops up. When I inevitably write a huge Foo Fighters piece before and after said show in 2015, remember you saw it here first.
