Spectre

007-bond-movie-announcement-new-title-spectre

Without any question one of my favorite films of the decade so far has been 2012’s Skyfall. I will argue to this day that it’s one of the most entertaining movies I have ever seen. I’d be genuinely shocked for any of my friends to tell me that they were not entirely enthralled with the story. Did it have its plot holes? Of course it did. Did Javier Bardem deserve a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Skyfall? You’re damn right he did.

This fall will bring the next entry into the James Bond franchise, Spectre. I was sold as soon as I found out Sam Mendes, the director of Skyfall, as well as American Beauty, was returning for the 24th Bond film. I officially and entirely trust this man with one of the most storied franchises in cinematic history. I was sold when I found out that there would be another Bond film period. If I could have purchased my tickets the day that the announcement was made then I would have. I was overwhelmingly sold when it was announced last year that two time Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz was joining the series.

In general, if the series is able to grab an actor or actress that I love and throw them into the story then I am entirely in. Mads Milkkelsen, Javier Bardem, and now Christoph Waltz have got me committed. I was ready for this movie beyond words.

Then the trailer came out today.

That’s it. I’m going to be the first person to see this movie come hell or high water. I haven’t been this excited in a long, long time.
