Robin Williams’ Last Roles
By: Connor Lenahan
It’s astonishing to realize that Robin Williams passed away last August. Not only is his passing as shocking today as it was 10 months ago, but the fact that it was only 10 months ago seems impossible. We lost one of the most talented actors in history last year, but luckily enough we get to enjoy Robin Williams in theaters a few more times. True to his nature, we will see him in both a dramatic and comedic role.
The trailer for Boulevard was released just within the last day or so. While it doesn’t on the surface appear to be the next Good Will Hunting it does appear as though it’s another great chance for Williams’ dramatic genius to shine. There’s a healthy chance I will see this just to watch Robin carry the story, watching him make it look effortless.
Meanwhile, Absolutely Anything lets some of the strongest parts of Robin’s talent – comedy and voice overs – come to life. Robin plays the talking dog companion to Simon Pegg, of Shaun of the Dead fame, in a British sci-fi comedy that looks like it is a dark horse to be the funniest movie of the year. I cannot properly express how badly I want to see this.
Better than anything, we get to be back with Robin. Look for both of these films later this year.
