World Cup Champs

Yessssssssssssssssssssssss. It’s hard not to get excited when the United States plays against other countries on a national level, regardless of sport. Give me international curling or basketball and I want us to be the best. So tonight when we got to face off against Japan, a rematch of the 2011 Women’s World Cup Final, for the trophy again my interest was at a high.

Then we went up 4-0 within the time it takes me to watch an episode of The Simpsons and I was giggling on the couch and screaming. Look, I understand soccer is best when it’s a hard fought contest that can come down to the wire. Penalty kicks are the single most incredible sporting event to watch live without question. But after losing the last final to Japan and having a chance to redeem ourselves a blowout felt nice.

A gigantic congratulations to the US Women’s National Team for cementing America’s status as the best team in the world yet again. Let’s go celebrate because we are world champs again, baby.
