“The game’s changed.”

“The game didn’t change, just got more fierce.”

Over a 24 hour period from Friday night to Saturday evening, arguably the two biggest sporting events for Boston University this academic year will happen. This Friday night has one of the most exciting possible basketball matchups in not only Boston, but the northeast happening in Case Gym. One week after our highly-successful Terrier Madness event, the Men’s Basketball team is going to host the Northeastern Huskies at home at 7PM. It goes without saying that all fans and players would like to win that game by a final score of around 183-1, but saying it makes me happy anyway.

What’s especially exciting about this game is that there is a guarantee of electricity in the air. This is the battle for city bragging rights. This is the team that likes to take shots at the Terriers whenever possible, despite clearly being the little brother of the rivalry. We cannot and will not lose to them, and especially not on our court. This Friday night will kick off the basketball season proper, and we could use as much support as possible to further distance us from our so-called peers. We need you there, and I will let you do wheelies in my wheelchair if you come out and support our boys.

But of course the next afternoon we take our revenge on the ice. The less said the better, but the Men’s Ice Hockey team has a special visitor on Saturday afternoon. The currently ranked #1 Providence Friars. Not only to we get to welcome the top team in the country, but we get our first chance at redemption. You see, they kind of have our trophy. While they may have the National Champions banner in their arena, we will have the win on the ice Saturday. And then again, and again, for the rest of eternity. Much like the Hulk, you won’t like angry Terriers. They may not bite, but they score goals at will.

We need you this weekend Ladies and Gentlemen. We have the opportunity to show Boston University off as the amazing place it is to our fiercest competitors. Let’s do this. See you Friday night at 7PM, and Saturday at 4PM.
