Doing Stand Up
By: Connor Lenahan
I have done stand up comedy only once in my life. I, oddly, won a talent show in high school by doing it, despite the fact that my set wasn’t all that funny. However, I loved getting up in front of people and just having fun. Making people laugh is one of my favorite things in the world. It’s what I try to do almost everyday here on Unbreakable.
My buddy Andrew Giustino, who is one of the funniest men on the planet and sure to be getting his own Netflix special soon, has been nice enough to invite me to the Flat Waffle Comedy Hour as a performer a few times this semester. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances – announcing basketball and attending WWE Raw among them – I haven’t been able to get on stage. Until tomorrow.
Tomorrow night at BU Central here in Boston I will join some other students in doing short stand up sets. I could not be any more excited for this. I will make sure to have a recording available for all those that will want to see from beyond the Boston University campus, but if you want to come out to see the show, it’s at 9PM.
Hopefully it’ll go well, hopefully I won’t rip off Mike Birbiglia (pictured above, since I don’t have a photo of myself performing yet), and hopefully I’ll make someone laugh. This should be good.
