Back to Announcing

I really have missed announcing games. This is, I believe, the longest non-summer break I have ever had to take from announcing by virtue of going on Spring Break, having a lot of class work, and generally being busy beyond words recently. It’s sad, really. I love getting to see all the wonderful people in the BU Athletics office that I’ve been friendly with for years. I miss getting to watch friends of mine play the sport they love. I miss getting to yell “GOALLLL” into a live microphone during said games.

But this is all going to be better tomorrow. After a few weeks away from my favorite activity in the world I’ll be back for Women’s Lacrosse tomorrow at Nickerson Field. I can’t tell you how happy this makes me.

I tell this story constantly, but all I wanted to do when I got to college was to try and break into being a public address announcer. I figured that in the best case scenario I might announce a basketball game before I graduated. I certainly wasn’t anticipating to announce over 100 total events (and counting) before I finished my junior year. I’m living a dream every time I get to announce. It makes me smile. It’s the closest I’ll ever get to the game, and tomorrow is like beginning a season all over again.

It was nice to have a few days off, but enough of this waiting and sitting around. It’s time to get back where I belong. It’s time to keep working to become the best announcer I can be. It’s time to have some fun in the booth. It’s time for me to be back. It couldn’t have come soon enough.
