La-La-Land: Yes Please
By: Connor Lenahan
If you told me there was a movie coming out this fall with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone set in 1930s Los Angeles I would buy tickets before you finished the description. If you tossed in the the movie would take full advantage of Gosling’s terrific singing voice I would buy out an entire theater for opening night to have to myself in excitement.
But when you toss in “From the Writer and Director of Whiplash”? Oh hell yes.
Whiplash, one of the best films of the last few years, was the masterwork of Damien Chazelle who has earned the utmost trust in all of his future projects. La-La-Land, while definitely an interesting pivot from the intense emotions of his prior film, looks fairly interesting. I’m there, and you should be too.
